Founded in 1995, the BISON Scholarship Fund is a privately funded tuition assistance program for low-income children.

In 2007, BISON announced a significant expansion of the current program in offering financially eligible families from the city of Buffalo, Lackawanna, West Seneca, Cheektowaga, Kenmore and the Town of Tonawanda can apply for scholarship assistance.

BISON is designed to give parents a full range of choices about their children's education. Families awarded a BISON scholarship will be able to enroll their child in a private grammar school (K-8th Grade) of their choice in the greater Buffalo area.
